Port Dover Community Sports Complex
Located:
Behind the Lions Community Centre - 801 St. George Street
The Community Sports Complex, consisting of Tennis Courts, Skateboard
facilities and a Ballhockey pad, is truly a
Community Project. Many groups, the Kinsmen, Tennis enthusiasts,
the Skateboard group, the Royal Canadian Legion (158), our Lioness and Leos, PD13,
Norfolk County and the Grand Erie District School Board participated in the project.
The Port Dover Lions Club is a major
contributor to this most worthy venture. Our initial $150,000 commitment
facilitated the project taking shape. Eventually, with funding from the
County, the Federal Government and other community sports enthusiasts,
the project matured into a resounding success for our youth as well as
all members of our community,
including the many tourists who flock to our shores.

which will fund lighting for the Ballhockey Pad at the
Port Dover Community Sports Complex.

In addition to the $25,000 prize, the winning communities are awarded a
Kraft sponsored Community BBQ to be enjoyed by the community
as well as all who supported our venture with your many many votes (311,608 votes).

Community Sports Complex Grand Opening
November 6th 2010
The Port Dover Community Sports Complex Grand Opening was well attended
by the Lions, participating service groups and the community at large.
The many hours of negotiations and hard work that produced this Million plus
dollar project were finally realised in a magnificent state of the art facility.
The skateboard and hockey facilities were in full use by the youth oblivious to the dignitaries and customary speeches being deliverd under ideal weather conditions.
The surfacing of the tennis courts and completing the landscaping will have to
wait till spring.
Committee chair Peter Slaman thanked everyone for their participation and their
generous contribution to the success of this community project.
Peter Slaman, speaking to the youth, said it best.
