Wayne Neidrauer did an excellent job in 2011 despite the cool and sprinkly weather.
John Roberts is the 2011 winner of the highly coveted
Chuck Watkinson Memorial Trophy.
The 2011 winner of the Herb Rogers Putting Trophy
is Pat Young
Congratulations to the winners the committee and all participants.
The Tournament in 2010, once again organized by Wayne Neidrauer, held on September
8th was on the cool, breezy and cloudy side with a few minor sprinkles lasting
but a few minutes.
The putting contest had a new look and challenged many, but
some great scores were recorded with a high of 85 points with 5 putts.
As usual a great meal was the order of the day following the Tournament, with
about 55 enjoying the BBQ, corn on the cobb, salads and dessert. For many years the
Golf Tournament has kicked off the Lions year with great camaraderie and stories
of how close some shots and putts were to perfection. It was great to see all the
Lions and the many guests enjoying the days events. It was especially nice to see
Lion Dick Esseltine, who made the journey from Tillsonburg to participate.
The winner of the Herb Rogers Putting Trophy
was none other than
Herb Rogers in 2010 (highest score by a Lion). I have no doubt that
the trophy donated by Lion Herb will be a source of many stories throughout the year.
Walt Rieckermann is the repeat winner of the highly coveted
Chuck Watkinson Memorial Trophy
(Low net Lion). I am sure Lion Walt will once again proudly display the trophy
prominantly in his home. It will surely be a source of conversation by all who
glance at this remarkably artistic creation.
Congratulations to the prize winners and a huge thanks to all who participated
and all who helped make the event a success.
Our 2009 Tournament organized by Wayne Neidrauer, held on September
2nd was
blessed with fantastic weather once again. As usual Dave Lewis procured
mouth-watering
tender steaks from Dekoning's, deserts from the Harmony Bakery, salads from
Knechtels and
farm fresh corn from Adventure Foods. Congratulations to Wayne and his
team for
putting on a great Tournament (45 golfers) followed by a fabulous feast, enjoyed by nearly 60
Lions and their guests. Lion Bob Ryerse, with some support, cooked the
corn to perfection as Bob celebrated his 83rd birthday in style. Marty Forsyth
kept the refreshments chilled and well stocked. Paul Wilkinson donated a pair
of valuable sunglasses,
which were raffled off at only $1.00 a ticket, adding to the excitement and fun of the event.
Pine Valley Golf Course was again in great shape as usual and
everyone enjoyed their participation.
The winner of the Herb Rogers Putting Trophy
(an elegantly mounted antique putter) in 2009 is our Third Vice President
Dave Hawkes
If you get to visit Walt Rieckermann you will see the
beautiful Chuck Watkinson Memorial Trophy
proudly displayed in a prominent location in his home throughout the year (Low net Lion).
Congratulations to the prize winners and a huge thanks to all who participated
and all who helped make the event a success.
